We are been ranked as the top investor in social entrepreneurship within the US construction sector. It's another way we give back.
We support social enterprise as an effective means of reducing poverty and enacting intergenerational change. Our supply chain incorporates social companies extensively; as of right now, we have 59 partners. We collaborate with specialized advocates to swap out conventional providers for those who can improve the community and society. This involves giving refugees, disabled individuals, veterans, long-term jobless individuals, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people meaningful work.
Serving Real Purpose
On construction sites, coffee vans are a typical sight. However, Eurocon Construction International adds a unique twist to its offering: they are the first socially conscious construction site canteen.
Providing possibilities for employment, training, and revolutionary change with every pour - for those impacted by disadvantage. giving them hope and a purpose.
We're happy to support this company because it is fundamentally human.
Positively Rubbish
Prospects Environmental provides a great deal of good even if it is in the waste business. This social company works with individuals who are disabled or from disadvantaged backgrounds to process and divert waste from landfills. At their conclusion, every tonne is equivalent to one hour's labor.
We have sent them several tonnes of rubbish over the past four years. We will stay on this course for the benefit of Outlook's citizens and the environment.
Breaking through the hard yards
Reentering the employment is difficult for veterans for a variety of reasons. For this reason, we committed over $12 million to social companies in 2020, including Veterans in Construction. Additionally, we declared our national alliance with Soldier On in 2021. These organizations serve veterans and their families in the USA and Canada and offer avenues for them to enter the sector. They do amazing job. We already employ 70 veterans on our sites, and we intend to increase this number throughout the nation.
Back on track
We extend a warm welcome where others might turn away. Young Indigenous Canadians who have dealt with the juvenile justice system can turn their life around with the support of our ON TRACK initiative. Attendees gain important life and professional skills that will help them advance in our field.
We also act as though we mean what we say. We worked on 103 projects worth over $100 million in 2021 with about 127 Indigenous suppliers. We recognize that one of our greatest assets is our diverse culture, which calls for giving people another chance.
